With the end of semester nearing, we again remind colleges and universities that their local food banks are in great need for food donations. At the end of each semester, departing students have leftover foodstuffs that can be easily collected for donation to area food pantries, soup kitchens and food banks. The summer months are especially crucial since children home from school increase the demands on food banks just when their shelves are at or near their lowest point.
Any student organization that is able to mobilize a food drive effort can contact us by email at dkahn@stufh.org for guidance and assistance. You can also find resources and planning ideas on our website, http://www.stufh.org. At the end of the semester, Move Out Day can become Trash to Treasure Day.
