Payne County Youth Services Volunteer Reward Program
Payne County Youth Services (PCYS) has just begun a new Volunteer Rewards Program, which will allow an “official” PCYS volunteer (official meaning they have completed their required paperwork and allowed a background check) to track their monthly PCYS hours.
During the first week following each quarter, PCYS will tally the hours and name a Volunteer of the Quarter. To honor them, PCYS will reward that person with a $10 gift card to a local eating establishment, submit a news article and picture to the NewsPress and add that to their website, facebook and quarterly newsletter.
Some of the jobs they have available now are:
- Tutoring
- Painting
- Cleaning
- Landscaping
- Construction
- Safe Place® Assistance
- Youth Outings/Activities
- Craft Instruction
- Art Instruction
- Music Lessons
- Grant Writing
PCYS also has internships available for OSU students and classes. However, these are not a part of the rewards program.

Tobacco Stops with Me
Governor Brad Henry has proclaimed Nov. 14-21 as “Tobacco-Free Oklahoma Week” to promote tobacco-free property policies that protect Oklahoma workers and the public from secondhand smoke, model healthy behaviors for youth, and help support tobacco users who are trying to quit.
